Licenses

The SpagoWorld projects are released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). In sum, it means that everyone receiving one of the SpagoWorld solutions receives all the licence rights and duties too. According to the GNU LGPL License, if you modify a SpagoWorld project and distribute the modified version, all changes, all interface code and all code connected directly or indirectly to the latter fall under the GNU LGPL licence; obviously, the unchanged copies of the SpagoWorld projects fall under the GNU LGPL license too.

A peculiarity concerning SpagoBI that, not only developes, but also integrates the most interesting Free Open Source solutions in order to produce a comprehensive Business Intelligence platform. So, SpagoBI licensing schema is quite complex as explained below. A Support Agreement is available for everyone that develops its own project using SpagoWorld solutions with guarantees, training and professional support services (see Services Section). The documentation of the SpagoWorld projects is licensed under the Creative Commons License.

GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL)

The SpagoWorld projects are free software: you can redistribute them and/or modify them under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; for Spago, SpagoBI and Spago4Q is are valid either version 2.1 of the License, or any later version. For Spagic it applies the version 3.0. The SpagoWorld projects are distributed in the hope that they will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SpagoBI licensing schema

SpagoBI licensing schema follows:

  • SpagoBI Core is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (GNU LGPL): spagobi.war
  • SpagoBI Sdk is released under the new BSD license. E.g.: SpagoBI Drivers API, SpagoBI Security API, SpagoBI CMS API, SpagoBI Utils
  • SpagoBI interfaces to specific FOSS solutions developed without derivative work are released under the new BSD license. E.g.: SpagoBI Jasper Report Driver, SpagoBI Jpivot Driver
  • SpagoBI interfaces to specific FOSS solutions developed with derivative work are released under the specific FOSS license. E.g.: SpagoBI Jasper Report Engine, SpagoBI Jpivot Engine, Exo Portal Security Provider, JackRabbit CMS Factory
  • Additional SpagoBI components are released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (GNU LGPL). E.g.: SpagoBI IReport Plugin, SpagoBI Unit Test, SpagoBI Components, SpagoBI Demo

Respect For Copyright Ownership and Law

These software are protected by the GNU Lesser General Public Licence (LGPL), they are not without license. All users and participants in the SpagoWorld Projects are reminded to comply with the applicable laws and regulations, the SpagoWorld licenses, terms of use, and the guiding principles concerning any use of copyrighted materials. Conditions of distribution and modification are defined in the COPYING file bundled with the SpagoWorld software.
