The Intelligence platform for Health Care institutions
In the electronic healthcare era, the expectations on the information technologies increase every day. The clinic and administrative processes produce a large amount of data from which the healthcare institutions can obtain information that guarantees a conscious and efficient governance, according to the users needs and the regional/central rules.
Engineering Sanità Enti Locali, the producer of AREAS, the first Italian ERP specially designed and developed for the healthcare sector (H-ERP), has chosen SpagoBI platform to integrate the intelligence features in the suite. A specific analytical model has been designed, and an active collaboration with the SpagoBI team is contributing to the growth of the open source platform. SpagoBI for Areas is the result of this collaboration and is one of the main components of the AREAS Business Framework, the cross-wise structure on which the entire H-ERP has been developed.
AREAS supports the development of the totality of the health institutions specific processes, collecting in his database all data generated during their elaboration while SpagoBI for Areas is the basic instrument allowing to deduce the necessary information to support the strategic, tactical and operational decisions that the health centres have to take daily.
Therefore SpagoBI for Areas realizes the analytical component that provides to the different applicative areas an extended intelligence layer able to support not only the decision-making managerial process (Business Intelligence), but the administrative and clinical managerial processes (Clinical Intelligence, HR Intelligence) too.

The use of SpagoBI for Areas in clinical field offers a real support for improving patient's healing course efficiency, through the realization of a large number of evaluations oriented to identify potential relations between the various events characterizing patient's recent and past clinical history. The analytical model realized in this field offers to the health worker different solutions such as:
- reports, for analysis supporting the medical treatment process (identification of the handled case mix and services typology) and the distribution at institute and/or department level of information on the supplied treatment and on the health benefits obtained;

SpagoBI for Areas uses all the SpagoBI's features to model and manage the behavioural model of single users and groups, according to the corporate organization and with the supported processes. Particularly, the access methods integrated and shared with AREAS Business Framework allows to add the visibility rules to the roles handled by the ERP, defined by the Intelligence administrators, on documents and data sub-domains.
