OW2 is a global open-source software community which goal is
the development of open-source distributed middleware, in the form
of flexible and adaptable components. These components range from
specific software frameworks and protocols to integrated platforms.
OW2 developments follow a component-based approach.
The consortium is an independent non-profit organization open to
companies, institutions and individuals.
OW2 mission is to develop open source code middleware and to
foster a vibrant community and business ecosystem.
OW2 Consortium is the result of the merge between the ObjectWeb community, founded in 2002, and its Chinese counterpart Orientware, founded in 2004. Since its inception in 2007, the new international consortium federates more than one hundred organizations and 6000 IT professionals in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Since 2005, Engineering has been corporate member of the ObjectWeb consortium; since 2007 Engineering is a strategic member and co-founder of OW2 Consortium. Engineering's goal is to promote the durable and sustainable development of an ecosystem centred on open-source software. The strategy of Engineering is to share the company's open-source projects with the community, to consolidate open-source solutions at enterprise level, to establish worldwide partnerships and to focus its road-map on industrial initiatives.
