The open source Business Intelligence suite by Engineering Group confirms its positioning in the BI market
Rome (Italy), 23rd July 2012 – SpagoBI was among the selected vendors that Forrester invited to participate in its July 17, 2012, Forrester Wave report, Advanced Data Visualization (ADV) Platforms, Q3 2012. In this evaluation, SpagoBI was cited as a Strong Performer in Advanced Data Visualization Platforms.
SpagoBI is the only 100% open source comprehensive Business Intelligence (BI) suite providing many analytical capabilities thanks to more than twenty analytical and operational engines. This grants the suite a high level of flexibility: the whole range of business intelligence capabilities is covered by several engines to get the best solution that meets users’ specific needs. It is developed by Engineering Group, one of the top 10 European IT companies, with offices located in Italy, Belgium, Lebanon, Brazil and Argentina.
Forrester conducted evaluations and interviewed 14 BI vendors for this Advanced Data Visualization Platforms Wave report, evaluating them against 20 criteria, which they grouped into three high-level buckets of current offering, strategy and market presence.
“SpagoBI offers a highly functional semantic layer, often absent in other open source platforms and projects, and a respectable set of ADV features including geospatial analytics.” states Forrester’s report.
“I am very excited to share the news that SpagoBI is cited as a Strong Performer in Forrester Wave report, Advanced Data Visualization (ADV) Platforms, Q3 2012 (July 17, 2012.)” says Stefano Scamuzzo, SpagoBI International Manager. “The position of SpagoBI in this report is a strong evidence that SpagoBI is giving the right answer both to the open source community and the sophisticated BI market needs”.
SpagoBI is the only complete BI suite that eliminates any software and vendor lock-in: users’ rights to use the software are clearly separated from the purchase of professional services, with no customer’s obligation to buy. This specific business model is driving the growing adoption of the suite throughout the world. Lately SpagoBI has been the number one of the top downloaded open source projects of OW2 Consortium. This increasing demand is supported by SpagoBI Competency Center, whose offices are located in Europe (Italy and Belgium), USA, Brazil and Lebanon.
Engineering Group (www.eng.it) is included in the top 10 European IT companies ranking, with about 6,500 people and 43 offices in Italy, Belgium, Lebanon, Brazil and Argentina. The Research & Innovation Department, relying on 350 researchers and technologists, includes the Open Source, Business Intelligence and SOA Competency Centers. SpagoWorld is the Italian Group’s leading initiative, including the open source projects SpagoBI, Spagic, Spago4Q and Spago. www.spagoworld.org
