SpagoBI, the Open Source Business Intelligence suite, wins the Open Innovation Award

With the new Agile BI provided by SpagoBI, Engineering Group wins the Demo Cup at the Open World Forum in Paris.

Rome, 27th September 2011 – SpagoBI, the only 100% open source, complete and flexible Business Intelligence suite, has been awarded a 2011 Open Innovation Award, within the Demo Cup at the Open World Forum in Paris, a global event welcoming the main actors of the open source domain.

Stefano Scamuzzo, Engineering Group’s Senior Technical Manager and SpagoBI International Manager, made a six-minute demonstration, giving the opportunity to the jury and the public to see how the new version allows to quickly perform complete and effective analysis on one’s own data, according to the Agile BI approach. This also allows to shorten the development time of Business Intelligence projects as well as to directly involve the final users in the project development process.

I consider this award to be the well-earned acknowledgement of the job that SpagoBI team and its community have been doing for many years in order to make the suite grow over time, taking care not only of its maturity and reliability, but also of its innovative approach that makes it stand out from the other Business Intelligence solutions. Besides being the only entirely open source suite, SpagoBI is the first solution that has explored the domains of the Location Intelligence, the free data inquiry and the real-time BI. Now, thanks to the release of the new version, SpagoBI is also the most complete and flexible suite” says Stefano Scamuzzo.

The winners of the Innovation Awards have been chosen among the six finalists of the Demo Cup, a competition involving open source projects and solutions “with significant impact on society and on the market place”. The jury, made of investors, enterprises, consultants and open source managers from leading IT services companies, included representatives of Capgemini, Groupe La Poste, LC Capital, Nuxeo, Open Ocean Capital and xWiki.
